exchanges of India. State Bank of India (SBI) is the largest PSB with 23% market share and is also

a Fortune 500 company. They have a pan India presence.

Private sector banks (21): Nedungadi Bank was the first private sector bank in India. The majority shareholding of these banks lies with private individuals or promoting groups. They are regularly snatching business from PSBs and have approximately 30% of the total banking business. They are divided into two sub groups namely, old and new private sector banks. The new private sector banks are doing better than the older ones. They are also listed on the stock markets with HDFC Bank having very large-scale market capitalisation which is more than the total PSBs market capitalisation including SBI.
